From the collection today: a pair of snow goggles! These goggles were used to prevent snow blindness in the Arctic, and are made from leather with metal eyepieces. The thin slits in the metal allow visibility while limiting the UV rays that damage the eyes.
These are of Western manufacture, but we also have several pairs of traditional Inuit goggles, made of wood.
I just squint awkwardly.
